If you need an item that is popular and works up fast, this is the pattern for you!
I designed this pattern back in December 2019, and it did amazing at my craft fair. Then, I didn't do any fairs during the pandemic, but in December of 2022, I made more and was surprised to find it was STILL popular! I've never taken any of these home with me after a craft show/market.
Alien Child is made by crocheting the head, crocheting the top part of the robe to the head, then crocheting the arms, and then crocheting the body and crocheting the arms to the body and then sewing this top part to this bottom part. Because you’re only sewing 3 times in this pattern, tiny alien takes less than an hour to make! Here is the video tutorial.
Materials:
Green size 4 worsted weight yarn
Brown size 4 worsted weight yarn
4mm crochet hook
Yarn needle
Scissors
10mm safety eyes
Stuffing

Abbreviations:
MR = Magic Ring
sc = Single Crochet
hdc = Half Double Crochet
inc = Increase
dec = Decrease
st = Stitch
sl st = Slip Stitch
BL = Back Loop
BLO = Back Loops Only
FL = Front Loops
Head:
In green yarn,
R1: 6sc in MR (6)
R2: 6inc (12)
R3: (1sc, inc)x6 (18)
R4: (2sc, inc)x6 (24)
R5: (3sc, inc)x6 (30)
R6-8: 1sc in each st (30)
R9: (3sc, dec)x6 (24)
R10: In BLO, (2sc, dec)x6 (18)
Fasten off green yarn.
Attach brown yarn to the first front loop of R9.
R1: 1sc in each FL (24)
R2: (3sc, inc)x6 (30)
R3: (4sc, inc)x6 (36)
R4: 1sc in each st (36)
Fasten off brown yarn. Attach eyes between R7-8, and stuff.
Arms (make 2):
In green yarn,
R1: 4sc in MR (4)
R2: (1sc, inc)x2 (6) Change to brown yarn in last st.
R3: 6inc (12)
R4: (2sc, dec)x3 (9)
R5: 1sc in each st (9)
Pinch together and sc 4 across, fasten off.
Body:
In brown yarn,
R1: 6sc in MR (6)
R2: 6inc (12)
R3: (1sc, inc)x6 (18)
R4: (2sc, inc)x6 (24)
R5: (3sc, inc)x6 (30)
R6: (4sc, inc)x6 (36)
R7: In BLO, (4sc, dec)x6 (30)
R8: (3sc, dec)x6 (24)
R9-12: 1sc in each st
R13: (2sc, dec)x6 (18)
R14: 3sc, 4sc through both arm and body, 5sc, 4sc through both arm and body, 2sc.
Fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing, and stuff.
Ears (make 2):
In green yarn,
Ch 8. Starting in 3rd bl, 1hdc, 3sc, 2sl st. Ch 1 and on the other side in the BL, 2 sl st, 3sc, 1hdc.
Fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing.
Finishing:
Sew body to head. Sew ears to head.
